Resident Assistant

Job Description:



The Resident Assistant’s role is to assist the Group Home Manager and to assist/prompt residents to complete tasks such as activities of daily living and ensuring the resident’s independence and freedom of choice in Unlimited Horizons, Inc., in their home and in their community. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of Unlimited Horizons, Inc. This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility.
•        Provides direct care and training opportunities to each consumer in accordance with their needs as outlined in their individual case plan including but not limited to cooking, hygiene, and cleaning etc.
•        Provide transportation of consumers for appointments and other community activities
•        Assist with all aspects of consumer medication needs according to the Med Manager Course, including ordering, securing, administering, and documenting.
•        Assist with implementation of all aspects of financial needs of each consumer.
•        Complete the required documentation in all areas of consumer programming in accordance with accreditation guidelines and Unlimited Horizons, Inc.’s policies and procedures.
•        Advocate and educate consumers regarding their rights and responsibilities and community integration
•        Assist with implementation of all aspects of medical needs of each consumer
•        Assist the consumers with their personal wants and needs including meal planning and personal/grocery shopping
•        Facilitate consumer house meetings
•        Attend and participate in monthly team meetings.
•        Attend and participate in monthly in-service trainings.
•        Follow assigned schedule.

•        Must be at least 21 years old
•        Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
•        Two (2) years of work experience in a child-caring facility required
•        Medication Aide or Medication Manager status or willingness to obtain
•        Advanced training or experience with person with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
•        Valid Driver’s License clear of any DMV issues
•        High level of literacy in written and spoken English
•        Exercise discretion and solid judgment while ensuring safety of consumer
